AI for bookkeeping, fitted around your software.
Supplier invoices, receipts, statements and bank lines read, coded and prepared in Xero, Sage or QuickBooks as drafts for your bookkeeper or accountant to check and approve.

- Prepares supplier statement, bank and e-commerce payout reconciliations, listing the differences for checking
- Prepares the payment run and month-end invoices as drafts for approval
What stays with people
- Approving and paying bills; no money moves without your sign-off
- Payroll, pensions and VAT returns
- Accounting judgements, year-end and anything HMRC-facing
- Client-account money, such as rent or a legal cashroom
Hiring for bookkeeping?
Test what AI can take on first.
Many bookkeeping duties are repetitive and rule-based. That makes them good candidates for AI to prepare, for a person to check and approve. The conversations and judgement calls stay with people.
Whether that changes the hire is something to test rather than guess. It may not. The £499 assessment looks at the same work: what is repetitive, what needs judgement, and what each build would cost, so you decide with the detail in front of you. Use the report's estimated time savings and ongoing costs alongside the work left with people, including checks and exceptions, when deciding whether the hire changes. Time freed is not automatically a cash saving.

Can AI do my bookkeeping?
AI can take on much of the repetitive, rule-based part of bookkeeping: reading, matching, keying and drafting, inside the software you already use. A person checks and approves financial commitments, material record changes and sensitive messages. Routine messages may be sent automatically only within categories and rules you have agreed in advance; anything outside those rules goes to a person. How much it can take on depends on your volumes and systems, which is what the £499 assessment tests.
Will it replace our bookkeeping hire?
Sometimes it changes what the role needs, sometimes it does not. We would rather test it than guess. The assessment sets out which bookkeeping tasks suit AI, which stay with people, and what each build would cost, so you can decide before you hire.
Do we need new software?
Usually not. Clerq builds around the tools you already use. How much can happen inside a particular system depends on how it connects, which we confirm during the assessment.
How do we start?
Book a free 30-minute call. If the £499 assessment of the team that does this work makes sense, we agree it there. You get a written, priced plan and a follow-up call, with no obligation to commission a build.

Find out what is worth automating, for £499.
For £499 we walk through one team’s work and systems with you, then send a written report: what is worth automating, what it would take and what each piece would cost to build. If something is not worth automating, the report says so.
